A couple of months ago before it reached 100 degrees in the Valley, I went to Starbucks and ordered a London Fog made with Almond milk and one pump of sugar free vanilla. Then I got on a Earl Grey tea kick and now that it’s hot, I wondered how I could make it into a cocktail. Lucky for me, many people already beat me to the punch. So I came up with an Early Sunset- Earl Grey Cocktail with Hendricks Gin.
I found many recipes made with lavender and although it made my taste buds stand at attention, finding the lavender and creating an elaborate drink quickly made me withdraw. One recipe that did spark my interest was from my blogging friend Meredith at The Southern Source.
So this recipe sounds de-LISH but I wanted to use Gin (I prefer gin to vodka) and keep it even more easy by using an ingredient I had on hand. I opted for Sprite rather than buying Limoncello. P.S. You can still use vodka and it’s just as good.
So if you’re on a lake, a boat, your back patio, lounging in a pool, or just escaping the heat- You have to make this drink. And, an Early Sunset, Earl Grey Cocktail should definitely be sipped on in the late afternoon. Just like the English do but much sassier. Wink!
Now it’s time to re-invent your afternoon ice tea with this Early Sunset- Earl Grey Cocktail with Hendricks Gin!
Early Sunset- Earl Grey Cocktail with Hendricks Gin
Cool down this summer with an Early Sunset- Earl Grey Cocktail. A slightly sweet, traditional ice tea with an adult twist!
- 2 oz. Earl Grey Simple Syrup
- 1 oz. Gin (I prefer Hendricks)
- 1 part Club Soda
- 1 part Sprite
- 2 slices Lemon
-
Simple Syrup: Prepare Earl Grey tea as directed on the package. Then bring 1 cup sugar + 1 cup prepared tea to a boil. Let cool. You can make more if you choose and just store it in the fridge in an air tight container.
Early Sunset Cocktail: Fill your glass with crushed ice. Pour the simple syrup and gin then top it with club soda and sprite. Two slices of lemon for garnish and bottoms up!
Enjoy!
