Summer time calls for pool time, friends, barbecues, and something good to sip on. This year skip the fruit platter and make you and your friends this Fourth of July Cocktail Refresher: The American Drink.
Whether you always have drinks at your fourth of July Barbecue or just want a little something something, this is the perfect sip of choice. Tell me this red, white, and blue drink in a chilled mason jar doesn’t just scream-
S U M M E R T I M E + F O U R T H of J U L Y!
Why this drink is perfect for the Fourth of July
Strawberries and blueberries are in season so they’re inexpensive and deliciously sweet. It’s nice to use seasonal fruit and veggies for as many things possible because before we know it, we’ll be back to the frozen section.
What you need to make it
- Mason Jar– Any glass will do but choose one that is the same circumference from top to bottom. The layers stack better. I thought my Mason Jars were a great choice for this summer time Fourth of July Cocktail. Here’s a link to buy some if you don’t already have a cabinet full.
- Fruit- Strawberries and blueberries of course. The “Red + Blue.”
- Soda- Sprite, 7-up, or any lemon/lime soda will work. The “White.”
- Vodka
- Coconut Rum- Malibu or Coco-Loconut
- Ice
- Muddler
P.S.
Grab a spoon! You can use a straw for about 5 seconds but soon you’ll want to mix it all together and eat the yummy alcohol soaked fruit. Disclaimer, there’s something about fruit soaked in alcohol…. it catches up to you. In other words, it’s perfect. AND…. you can make a kid friendly version by just using sprite.
Whatever your plans are this summer, I hope you’re with good friends and family, under the sun, and sipping on this Fourth of July Cocktail, “The American Drink.”
Cheers to Strawberry lips and Blueberry sips!
Fourth of July Cocktail Refresher: The American Drink
A red, white + blue, fruit filled drink with vodka and coconut rum. Grab your spoon for this one girls!
- 1/4 cup Strawberries
- 1/4 cup Blueberries
- 1 shot Vodka
- 1 shot Malibu Rum
- 1/4 cup sprite
-
Add strawberries to your cup and slightly muddle (smash.) Then add Ice. Don’t use crushed ice because the liquid seeps past into the strawberries too fast diminishing the red, white + blue effect. Add Ice, sprite, vodka, and coconut rum. top with blueberries and serve with a spoon.
These look so festive and delicious!!
Haha, I love your disclaimer ( there’s something about fruit soaked in alcohol…. it catches up to you. In other words, it’s perfect.). I agree… it’s perfect!
